Athletes of the Week:

athlete of the week - dylan escobedo

✭ Jaylene had an amazing performance at the "Southern Swing #6" Tournament in Victoria, TX. Jaylene helped lead a huge comeback serving 8 straight points against Southern Swing 16's Black for the victory! Setting all the way around in our final matches made a huge impact offensively and we were able to take 1st place gold!! Way to step up and be a leader Jaylene!!⭐️

chloe guadalupe - athlete of the week

✭ Chloe started this season off with little experience and knowledge of the game but through her hard-work and determination she is the definition of improvement. Week by week she has grown into an outstanding libero for our 12s team. At this weekends Power Girl Tournament going in she had to step out of her defensive comfort zone and help her team as our OPP and although she was nervous she wouldn’t let her team down. She showed up and laid it all on the court helping us to get our gold medal. Sometimes it isn’t about how strong and big you are but how much heart you have and Chloe is that player. She is a Star ⭐️ through and through!

elinor kennedy athlete of the week

✭ Rainey has been putting in the work for improvement. She is standing out as one of our strongest defenders. She has gained consistency in her strong float serves and helped us win the APC #4 with her dominance in serves getting several in a row. Way to shine like the Star ⭐️ you are Rainey!

julia ottz - athlete of the week

✭ Jillian Ortiz is the player of the week for 14 Black! As the team’s libero, Jillian is always on the court with little to no breaks! She brings a tremendous energy to every set! Jillian stepped up her abilities against some very tough competition at the Stay in Texas 2 day tournament this weekend. She made adjustments from Day 1 to step up and make some incredible digs against her opponents. Jill is never shy to influence her teammates to think outside the box when it comes to defense! Your coaches are so proud of you Jill!⭐️

✭ ✭ SALEEN is another POWERHOUSE athlete for the STARS 17U Black Regional team. Due to an early season setback, she is back & picking up where she left off. Saleen provides an arsenal of defensive and offensive skills that are essential to this team’s success. Off the court Saleen has a passion for animals, her favorite being a dolphin. “A future life goal, is to have a career that involves working with animals”.

We are excited to have her back with us & playing to her full potential. Finish the season strong Saleen! 🦾

✭ Mia stood out as this weeks 15’s player of the week! As a defensive player, her improvement is evident every week, and she demonstrates a keen desire to learn. This tournament, she took on the role of a setter, despite facing challenges and frustration. However, her resilience shone through, and she gave her best performance. Well done, Mia! ✭ Kalie Rodriguez:

Is the Libero/DS for the 17u regional team. A talented & competitive athlete, she doesn’t shy away from a challenge. In her defensive role, Kalie is determined to get a touch on every ball to keep the rally going. Off the court, Kalie enjoys reading, runs track & has a love for animals (tigers & dragonfly’s to be specific) Her future goal is to work in law enforcement as a criminal psychologist.

As a returning athlete, we’re excited to have her back.

✭ This week’s player of the week for the 14U regional team was earned by Ms. Gabby Gutierrez! Gabby made multiple heads up plays on defense, not letting any ball around her hit the floor. She then earned 7 aces across her 33 serves, put up multiple blocks, and had a total of 58 attacks at the net. Way to make your mark, Gabby! Keep shining like the star you are! ⭐️

nadia harris - athlete of the week

✭ Nadia Harris is a formidable threat in the front row and one of our most consistent hitters. Nadia has great court awareness and is also great at identifying the open spot and gracefully tipping and placing the ball into those areas for points! Her amazing vertical and consistent arm swing mechanics allows her to attack from anywhere on the court! Nadia’s vertical also allows her the ability to block and suppress the opponent’s offense. Nadia had done an amazing job improving her personal defense skill and versatility. Nadia had three big blocks that resulted in points against poth, energizing her team and forcing the opponent to rethink and moldy their offensive strategy. Nadia’s awesome work ethic and cheerful disposition makes her so well liked by her teammates and coaching staff; it has been a blessing to have her on our team! Great job Nadia! ✭ 14’s Black would like to recognize Camila Mendez for being our player of the week. Her athleticism was nonstop this past weekend! Camila really stepped up to lead her team on and off the court! Way to step up and be such a great influence for your team this weekend! Your coaches are very proud of you! ⭐️

✭ Ma'Leeya has become a dominant force for our 16's Regional team defensively and offensively. Her emphatic play making ability motivates her teammates to be successful on every play. With the consistent blocks & kills, she is this week's spotlight player of the week for the 'STVA #1' tournament. Keep up the hard work, your future is bright! ⭐️

✭ EB has stepped up every single practice and tournament. She takes any opportunity she can to learn the game. She started at a beginner level as a DS who covered LB and recently has been stepping up to play Middle front. She is always open to feedback on ways to improve to gain additional court time, she is driven and focused when she steps on to the court. This is an athlete that never cuts corners. She consistently runs all her laps even when she is late, stretches without speeding through it and gives her all in practice. Keep shining like the Star ⭐️ that you are EB!

✭ Kennedy's dedication and focus were evident throughout the weekend as she aimed to secure another medal for her collection. Her proactive approach on the court, swiftly retrieving seemingly unreachable balls, showcased her determination and commitment to the game.

✭ This weeks featured player is Madison rose. Madison has stepped into the Libero position and excelled. Madison has become very proficient at reading the hit and moving to the ball. She does a great job passing up hard driven down balls and covering the tip as well! Madison also shows great leadership skills by memorizing warm up routines and leading her group during practice . Madison’s best qualities during game time is her energy on the court and how she not only maintains composure after making an error, but seems unaffected and continues to demonstrates such vigor and fervor challenging her opponents! ✭ ✭ Alyssa Lopez:

Is the Setter for the 17u regional team. She is a very talented & determined athlete, who gives it her all. An introvert by nature, her personality & skills really shine thru when she steps onto the court. She enjoys reading and loves spending time with friends & family. Her future ambition is to be in the medical field as a Pharmacologist.

✭ Leylani "Bri" Diaz is solidifying her role on our 16's Regional team as Captain and an all around player. Her ability to read the ball defensively has been a huge asset in our back row. She has grown into the OH position and has stepped up in the front row when needed. Her hard work does not go unnoticed, she is our Spotlight player of the week for our 'Spring Fling #1' Tournament! ✭ It's no surprise that Natalie and Emmelea are best friends. This week, they showcased exceptional leadership on the court, playing pivotal roles in the team's success. As both Team Captains and Setters, they guided the team with impeccable sets and relentless determination to score points.

Natalie impressed with 24 aces and 14 kills, leaving opponents baffled by her ability to hang in the air seemingly forever.

Emmelea, on the other hand, delivered 9 aces and 8 kills, demonstrating remarkable agility with some truly remarkable saves.

✭ Absyde Guerrero:

Is a strong, resilient & committed athlete. As a front line defender for the 17u regional team, she will stop at nothing to keep the ball on the opponents side of the court. On the offensive side, her powerful & consistent serves could be classified by the government as weapons of mass destruction (WMD)! Absyde has a love for animals & and passion for travel. Her future aspiration is to be an entrepreneur & one day run her own business. We are happy to have her with us. Keep bringing the heat Abby!!

annika webb - athlete of the week

✭ Anika stood out as our top and Most Consistent Hitter at the "Let's Spring It Up" Tournament this weekend. Her leadership and vocal presence on the court led the team to a 2nd Place🥈 medal! Keep working hard and continue to be a leader!

kaley zohar - athlete of the week

✭ Kailey Zvorak is an outstanding leader for her team. She brings a level of knowledge and levelheaded energy to her team that is unmatched. Kailey leads her team in Aces for the season and does an incredible job as setter. Kailey is also one of 14 Black’s team captains and always steps up to advocate for her teammates! Congratulations Kailey, your coaches are so proud of you this season!

✭ Salmas serves were a key part of winning this past weekends tournament. She held herself accountable for every serve. 💪🏼When she is off the court she is cheering her teammates on and cheers with them while they celebrate each point. She keeps a cool and calm composure during the game and is gaining traction at protecting the net and being aggressive in going to the ball. Keep shining like the Stars ⭐️ you are!

alyssa guerrero is the athlete of the week

✭ Alyssa started us off with 15 straight serves in our first match and continued to bring the fire 🔥 throughout the entire tournament. Alyssa did not hesitate to throw herself across the court to ensure no balls touched the floor. Each ball was played like it was the game winning ball. ✭ This week’s 16s local featured player is Maribel Muniz. Maribel is one of our team’s powerful all around weapons. Maribel is an affective outside and right side hitter. She also has a powerful serve and will stop at nothing to make sure a ball does not touch the court. Her commitment to improving her volleyball skills and hunger for success makes her truly stand out. Keep shining like the Star ⭐️ that you are!

✭ Jenavie McGill:

A workhorse for the 17u regional team & frankly an all around athlete, she dependably performs hard work every time. quote: (“I want to become the best version of myself both defensively and offensively”) Her future goal is to be a veterinarian. Oh & don’t let her quiet personality fool you, Jenavie is also the team’s energizer & hype person on the court. We are thrilled to have her play for us.

clarissa taylor - athlete of the week

✭ Clarissa stepped up BIG for our 16's Regional group at the Central Texas Challenge. Excellent hustle plays and a display of great passing at the Libero position! Clarissa was also our most consistent server for the weekend, serving at a 100% success rate! She contributed to a huge comeback win down 24-16 serving 10 straight to seal the win in our match! Great Job Clarissa!

This week 16 Navy would like to recognize two athletes.


Yasmin Salazar has been a tremendous asset to her team . She has worked tirelessly to improve her skills and her hard work definitely came to fruition in last week’s tournament. Yasmin Responded to some very hot serves and big kills with her best passer rating of her career keeping her team competitive against some very tough opponents . Yasmin also has one of her team’s most consistent serves , scoring aces and even attacking from the back row. She does all this, and always seems to maintain her cheerful disposition, big smile and positive energy.


Makayla Rodriguez has been a consistent offensive weapon attacking from outside, right side, slide attacks and finding the open spot to tip. Makayla stepped up and filled in for the team’s setter who was ill, rallying the players and rejuvenating her team. Makayla displays great leadership skills , a great work ethic and we are blessed to have her on our team!

This week 14’s Black would like to recognize two athletes that stepped up to finish their first travel tournament strong.


Ava Villasana reacted quickly to replace her injured sub. Quick thinking and confidence allowed Ava to be a tremendous presence in the front row! Ava played setter and right side hitter to rack up points in each match! Thank you Ava for stepping up and being a STAR ⭐️!


Katelyn Silva also stepped in for an injured player and really stepped up her defensive game. Katelyn is such a dynamic force in the back row and made some incredible plays against some tough competition. Katelyn has an amazing drive to improve her craft! Cannot wait to see what this season holds!

Representing the 17u Regional team, is a designated right side attacker & versatile front row player. Also new to the organization, Ari has shown heart & determination to help elevate her team thus far. Her future aspirations are to serve her country in the US Coast Guard or the medical field as registered Sonographer. We’re ecstatic to have her on our team. Keep up the good work Ari!

In her first season with the STARS Club and positioned at “OH” Dani is quickly becoming a rising STAR. Averaging 5 kills per set she is instantaneously making her mark for the 17u regional team. We are excited to have her on our side.

Lilly has been a foundation for our front row defense. From capitalizing and scoring on the opponent’s over-passes to having many successful blocks and touches, Lilly has done an amazing job. She has also proven her versatility with her serving, passing and quick responses to out of systems plays. Great job Lilly keep on shining. ⭐️

One of Sophia’s goals was to improve her serving. As the season has progressed and the hard work she has dedicated herself to, she is achieving this goal by a long shot. From feuding with serving errors to being consistent in games! Sophia stood out as she ended one set on 11 straight serves! 🔥 She has also stepped up under pressure as a huge back row asset to our 15's team.

Esabella Mangiero represented at the Countdown City Classic with 60 total attacks and 13 aces! Bella brings a fearless advantage to her team and always strives to improve!

carolyn laurendale athlete of the week

Cassidy Lauderdale represented at Countdown City Classic, she showed off her hustle in back row and picked up a lot of great hits! Not one fearless bone in her body.

natalia mora is the athlete of the week

Natalia at only 12, playing on a 15s team. She played all the way around showing off what a great hitter, server, and all around defensive player she was. What a way to shine like a star. 🌟

Marley stepped up in the countdown city classic, 1st year as a setter and she is now our starter. 2nd day she stepped up and became an outside hitter which helped lead to 2 wins. What a way to shine like the star ⭐️ that you are.
